The short version
- Boomtide is free. Play fair and be decent to other captains.
- You need to be 13 or older.
- Cheating, harassment and hateful names or chat can get you muted or banned.
- Items you earn in the game have no money value, and the game may change as we keep working on it.
Agreeing to these terms
By playing Boomtide you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't play. "We" and "us" mean the people who make Boomtide.
Who can play
You need to be 13 or older, or older where your country's law requires it. If you're under 18, check with a parent or guardian that it's OK for you to play.
Your account
You can sign in with Google or Discord, or play anonymously. An anonymous captain is saved only on that device and browser, and signing out loses it for good. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so don't share it.
Play fair, be decent
Please don't:
- cheat, use bots or scripts, or use a bug to get ahead (tell us about it on Discord instead)
- attack, overload or try to break into the game or its servers
- harass, threaten or bully other players
- post hateful, sexual or violent content, spam, scams or other people's personal details
- pick a captain name that's offensive or pretends to be someone else
If you break these rules, we may remove your messages, reset your name, mute you, or suspend or close your account. We decide what crosses the line, and we try to be fair about it. You can report other players from the game.
What you type
You're responsible for your chat messages and your captain name. We filter chat automatically and may remove anything that breaks these rules.
Items and progress
Everything in Boomtide is free. Levels, items, ships and other things you earn in the game are for playing with. They have no money value, and you can't sell them or trade them for money. We may rebalance, change or reset them as the game changes.
The game can change
Boomtide is still being made. We may change features, take the game down for a while to update it, or stop running it. We'll try to give notice in the game or on our Discord before big changes.
Our game, your videos
The game, its art, music, code and name belong to us. You're welcome to share screenshots and videos of Boomtide and to stream it, including on channels that make money.
No guarantees
We give you Boomtide as it is. We can't promise it will always work, be free of bugs, or keep your progress forever. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that come from using the game. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can't be taken away.
Stopping
You can stop playing at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We can close accounts that break these terms.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll also say so in the game or on our Discord. If you keep playing after a change, you're agreeing to the new terms.
